Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to increasing bilateral trade to USD 10 billion, while expanding cooperation in trade, investment, logistics, and the private sector during the 10th Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting.
Both sides pledged to expedite negotiations on a Pakistan-Iran Free Trade Agreement (FTA), remove barriers to border logistics and customs procedures, and promote joint border markets and electronic data interchange systems to facilitate trade.
The Iranian delegation also highlighted opportunities in electricity trade, regional connectivity, and the use of Karachi and Gwadar ports, while both countries emphasized creating a more conducive business environment to strengthen private-sector engagement and unlock the full potential of bilateral economic ties.
