Gold prices climbed on Monday after a sharp decline in oil prices eased inflation concerns following a pause in Middle East hostilities. Investors also remained cautious ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy decision later this week.
Spot gold gained 0.9% to $4,087.79 per ounce by 0421 GMT, while U.S. gold futures advanced 0.5% to $4,089.90. Meanwhile, oil prices fell more than 4%, supporting demand for bullion as traders assessed the outlook for inflation and interest rates.
Other precious metals also posted gains, with silver, platinum, and palladium each rising more than 1%. Analysts said gold's near-term direction will likely remain closely linked to movements in oil prices and expectations surrounding the Fed's policy decision.
