Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed S&P Global Ratings’ decision to upgrade Pakistan’s sovereign credit rating to 'B' from 'B-', describing it as a significant milestone that reflects growing international confidence in the government’s economic reform agenda.
The prime minister said the upgrade acknowledged progress in economic stabilisation, fiscal discipline, tax reforms, and efforts to strengthen the country’s foreign exchange reserves. He noted that the government's difficult but necessary economic decisions were beginning to deliver positive results.
Sharif said the improved rating is expected to enhance investor confidence, attract foreign investment, and support Pakistan’s long-term economic growth. He also commended Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the government's economic team, and relevant institutions for their contributions to the achievement.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to continuing structural reforms aimed at ensuring sustainable and resilient economic growth.
