The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) under its latest daily petroleum price review, effective July 23.
According to the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by PKR 6.39 per litre to PKR 327.12 per litre, while HSD has risen by PKR 7.83 per litre to PKR 375.04 per litre. The revised prices are based on OGRA's recommendations under the government's updated petroleum pricing mechanism.
With the latest revision, petrol prices have increased by a cumulative PKR 11.32 per litre and HSD by PKR 14.98 per litre over the past two price adjustments.
The Petroleum Division said the petroleum levy remains unchanged at PKR 80 per litre on petrol and PKR 70.82 per litre on HSD. The Climate Support Levy also remains at PKR 5 per litre, while customs duty stands at PKR 17.28 per litre for petrol and PKR 15.68 per litre for HSD. Premiums, including freight, remain unchanged at USD 10.98 per barrel for petrol and USD 5.10 per barrel for HSD.
Separately, the All Pakistan Petrol Pumps Owners Association and the All Pakistan Dealers Association have postponed their planned nationwide protest for two weeks after the government assured them that proposals to increase dealer margins and commissions would be prepared in consultation with stakeholders and submitted to the prime minister.
The latest price hike follows a sharp increase in the seven-day average Arab Gulf Platts benchmark, with international petrol prices rising to USD 104.48 per barrel and HSD prices climbing to USD 144.90 per barrel.
