Government lowers profit rates on National Savings schemes

The federal government has reduced profit rates on several National Savings schemes, according to a notification issued on Saturday.

Under the revised rates, the annual return on the Behbood Savings Certificate, Pensioners' Benefit Account, and Shuhada Family Welfare Account has been set at 12.96%.

The monthly profit rate on the Regular Income Certificate has been lowered to 11.52%, meaning an investment of Rs100,000 will now generate Rs960 in monthly returns.

Meanwhile, the Special Savings Certificate will offer a profit rate of 11.2% for the first six months and 12.6% for the remaining six months.

National Savings, established under the Government Savings Bank Act of 1873, remains one of Pakistan's oldest savings institutions, promoting household savings and serving as a key investment avenue for small savers.
